City On A Hill

Why City on A Hill?

Twenty-six (26) years after the launch of Karura Community Chapel, we are still “dwelling in tents!” From our start at Gigiri Kindergarten (now a private home) where we put up borrowed tents for our meetings catering to an attendance of under 100 people every weekend, we have grown step by step—from purchasing our first tent and chairs, moving to our own land in 2002, expanding into a mega-dome tent in 2006.

We have always been committed to “Ministry First” and we have seen God bless this focus. Our Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Community Life Groups, various discipleship programs, Spiritual Emphasis Campaigns, and many other things have seen our ‘internal’ ministry, to those who attend the Church enable us to grow in Christlikeness.

Our Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Community Life Groups, various discipleship programs, Spiritual Emphasis Campaigns, and many other things have seen our ‘internal’ ministry, to those who attend the Church enable us to grow in Christlikeness.

Our ‘external’ ministry, through our various Outreach Ministries as well as through members serving as ambassadors of Christ, has been exceedingly fruitful, having an impact that goes way beyond our immediate community even to the far reaches of Kenya. We are “Becoming Christ-like disciples, engaging the world” just as God calls us to be in the Vision statement He gave us.

Now God is telling us “It’s Time To Build!” It’s time to build our permanent Worship and Community Centre for the adults; to build proper facilities for our high school and college-age youth; and to enhance our children’s facilities. Time to build facilities that meet the needs of a growing community around us and make the best use of the property God has given us. To build a campus that will enhance our ability to minister both internally and in outreach.

Where are we?

We moved the tent to the internal parking area and shifted offices from the Kisima Education block in January.

How shall we do this?

Together, as we listen and respond to God’s call. We invite you to pray, to listen to God, and consider what, out of all He has given you, you would give to Him for this work. As the Bible says, God owns the cattle on a thousand hills—and those cattle are in the hands of His stewards, you and I.

And then to take the step of Faith, to make a commitment to do or give what He has asked. You can make a pledge and then work towards fulfilling it, trusting God to provide and bless both the commitment and the gift. It is a call to walk as stewards and partners of God in fulfilling His purposes.
